Is there something in the configuration of the planets? Another disciple of Srila Prabhupada has passed away, His Grace Puru das adhikari, of New York City.

“Doesn’t everything die at last, and too soon?

Tell me, what is it you plan to do

with your one wild and precious life?”

–Mary Oliver
(The Summer Day)

Puru das spent his life in the service of his spiritual master. I first heard of him back in 1971, in the old D.C. temple on Q Street that was headed by Damodara Prabhu. Puru was a legend even then, known for chanting Bhagavad-Gita verses in the shower. As the sun rises before me this morning, I salute the many devotional contributions of this Godbrother.

I knew of Pura and saw him a lot but never actually got to know him.

You always mentioned his chanting of verses in the shower whenever his name came up.

Why are so many older devotees leaving? :-(
